ABOUT improve your run
Improve Your Run provides coaching for runners who want to improve their fitness, technique, or race times. I train runners at distances from 2K to the Marathon, with a specialist focus on the 5K and Parkrun.
Alongside 1‑to‑1 coaching in Greater Manchester, I offer a range of online coaching plans for runners who prefer remote support. These can be found on the Pricing page.
Follow me on social media for regular training insights and examples of the coaching I deliver each week. You’ll also find articles and tips in the blog section of this site.

the coach

I’m Greg, the coach at Improve Your Run. I have a Degree in Sport Science with Coaching, and the UK Athletics LIRF and CIRF qualifications. I’m an active club runner with experience across events from the 800m on the track to the Marathon on the road.
Although I coach a range of distances, I specialise in 5K and Parkrun performance. I’ve completed almost 100 Parkruns, with 28 finishes between 18–19 minutes and a personal best of 17:40. This experience helps me understand exactly what it takes to run your best over 5K.
I know how rewarding it feels to run a new PB and to feel stronger through consistent training. My coaching focuses on helping runners experience that same satisfaction, whether that’s improving technique, building speed, or targeting a specific event.
PARKRUN

Get fitter and faster at Parkrun, whatever your starting point!
Whether you’re aiming for a PB, rebuilding after a setback, or wanting to feel better on the start line each Saturday, my coaching helps parkrunners of all levels run faster and more confidently.
For runners chasing a yearly best or PB, the Premium Package gives you the strongest chance of success in a realistic timeframe of 10 weeks.
Prefer something different? I also offer flexible, affordable coaching options with tailored support and a strong foundation for success.
You’ll find Parkrun Reviews on my blog for a participant’s perspective, plus plenty of Parkrun content on my social media.

FAQ
Q1: Why would I benefit from a Running Coach and why should I choose you? A: A running coach gives you structure, accountability, and a personalised plan so that you improve faster and avoid injury. As a Qualified England Athletics Coach (CIRF) with over 10 years of racing and Parkrun experience, I specialise in helping runners get quicker at 5K and other distances. My coaching centres on personalised training plans, smart pacing guidance, motivation, and consistent support. I also offer advice and practical tips on running form.
Q2: Do you have any examples of improving other Runners? A: Yes - you can see real examples on my Client Success page.
Q3: I'm new to running, can you still help me? A: Absolutely - I coach runners of all experience levels, including beginners. All I ask for is commitment and consistency. I’ll tailor your training to your current fitness so you can progress at a realistic pace while still seeing meaningful improvements. If you’re new to running, I’ll guide you through the training with clear structure and support that builds your confidence as well as your fitness.
Q4: Are there more affordable options than in‑person 1‑2‑1 coaching? A: Yes, I also offer online and hybrid coaching options. They provide structured training, accountability, and regular feedback, but without the need for in‑person sessions. It’s a flexible way to work with me if you prefer a different format.
Q5: Do you only offer running coaching in the Greater Manchester area? A: I mainly coach in the Greater Manchester area, with most of my in‑person sessions taking place at Longford Park. If you’re based further out, generally more than a 15‑minute one‑way drive, I’m still happy to travel, and in those cases I simply ask that travel costs are covered. I also work with runners outside the area through my online coaching options.
Q6: I can’t find the answer I’m looking for, what should I do? A: If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for, just get in touch using my contact form and I ’ll respond as soon as I can.
