KRAKOW COURSE INFO & REVIEW

NOTE: I wrote this review in 2019 so certain bits of information may not be accurate in relation to the current event at this Parkrun location. However, having checked their site it looks to be the same route.

Map of Krakow Parkrun Route

This Park Run is located to the west of the “Old Town” or Stare Miasto in Krakow and is between 1-1.5km away if you are jogging there. I didn’t record this run on my Garmin or on Strava using my phone, so I have included the location from Google Maps. The route is pretty much on the roads around the green area that says Blonia.

You start near to where it says Focha on the right hand side of the map, run all the way up Aleja 3 Maja, turn left at Piastowska (following the pavement) through the corner of the park and turn left at Focha (shown at the bottom of the map), heading back to the start and then left again at the end of Focha (the original start point) all the way up Aleja 3 Maja to finish at Piastowksa.

MY PARKRUN ON THE DAY

As mentioned, I didn’t have my watch (which I am not used to) but this run was during a 2 week break I was supposed to be having so I ended up running it quicker than I had expected – the week off must have helped. I was hoping to be the fastest English person on the day, but I ended up coming 6th behind another English runner in 5th. The route was straightforward and it was a nice enough run through trees and round a park.

Krakow is obviously a popular location for British people to visit so I noticed quite a few other runners from the UK, as well as other countries, so it wasn’t just Poles taking part, which I thought may be the case. As always, everyone there was friendly so I’d recommend this run if you have some spare time in Krakow.

KRAKOW

A brief mention about Krakow...

This was my 2nd trip to Poland, having previously been to Warsaw, and I loved the City. Krakow was an extremely nice city to visit with impressive architecture and a classy looking main square. Krakow gave me a similar vibe to Bruges and Ghent in Belgium.

I'd definitely recommend a trip to Krakow, and on each visit I have found the Polish people to be very friendly, and it is a great country to visit in Europe from my experience.

Rynek Główny in Krakow

Unfortunately my Garmin watch had run out of battery on the morning of the run so I didn’t manage to record my splits to capture the time and elevation for this route like I usually would. I would say this was a fairly easy route though as I can’t remember any significant inclines. The fastest male time was 17:49 and the fastest female time was 22:26.

SPLITS

My Garmin Watch had ran out of battery so was unable to record them.
